Kalam valley is located at a distance of 99 kms from Mingora in the Swat district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province along the bank of Suvastu river, 2000 meters above from sea level.
Kalam Valley is famous for its magnificent waterfalls, lakes, and lush green hills. In Kalam, the two rivers, Ushu and Utrot, join to form the Swat River. From Matiltan, you can get a wonderful view of the snow-capped Mount Falak Sher, 5918 meters. There are many tourist spots like Usho, Gabral, Utror (also spelled Ushu) are charming hill stations. Matiltan is a picturesque spot which comes after Ushu and located at about 11 km away from Kalam.
Kalam has large number of glacier lakes among them Mahodand lake and Kundol lake are very popular due to accessibility, while others which are accessible through tedious trekking are known to adventurous people only.
